Restoration
[edit]I removed the section "Restoration" because there was no source at all. While the content may be true, the fact that Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, made the removal of the section necessary.--Jerrch 02:24, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
The sources cited to say Ma will restore the name do not say that. I can recall a couple of weeks ago when the Taiwanese media asked Ma about this, he replied that he will act according to the will of the people (and therefore he avoided the question and didn't promise a restoration).--Pyl (talk) 15:39, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Hopefully have addressed the issue by taking a paragraph from the renaming article. Synthesis leading to inaccuracy seems to be a common problem with such splits. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 06:00, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
name change legality
[edit]"The move, however, was considered illegal by the then opposition party KMT as well as some scholars and members of the legal profession.[1] as the name under the governing legislation was unchanged."
The reference given is the work of one person and "represents the writer’s personal opinion". It makes no claims about who else agrees with the writer. It does not back up the statement that the move was considered illegal by any of the following: "KMT", "some scholars and members of the legal profession". This needs a better reference. Readin (talk) 17:12, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed that the phrasing was misleading. Have changed the wording: the legality was disputed and the cited reference is an example of the dispute. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 10:55, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
- I further clarified some parts of the statements, and hopefully now they are acceptable to everyone.--pyl (talk) 12:07, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Name of gate
[edit]As it's linked to the Commons Picture of the Day (for today), I did some housekeeping for in the related categories.
This lead me to create a subcategory for the gate pictured on the right side. I would appreciate your input on the name of the category. Please comment at Commons:Category talk:Gate of Great Centrality and Perfect Uprightness (Taipei)#Name. -- User:Docu, 09:04, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Lincoln Memorial connection?
[edit]As a virtual tourist I can't help noting the interior of the memorial hall being arranged similar to that of the Lincoln Memorial but on a smaller scale. Does the KMT credit the Lincoln Memorial as an influence? - knoodelhed (talk) 04:06, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
Number of steps
[edit]A reader ticket:2019022610005514 wrote to Wikimedia explaining that they visited this site today and noted that information in the hall states that there are 89 steps up to the Memorial Hall one for each year that he lived.
This matches the uncited information in this article, but seems to contradict the fact that he lived 87 years (31 October 1887 – 5 April 1975).
How can this discrepancy be resolved?--S Philbrick(Talk) 19:53, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
